Editorial Policy

Teaching My Family helps parents and caregivers teach useful skills, build workable habits, and handle everyday family challenges. We focus on practical ideas families can adapt to a child’s age, abilities, interests, and circumstances—because a routine has to work in a real home, not simply look tidy on paper.

How we choose and check sources

Our articles draw on child-development and education research, reputable pediatric and family organizations, university extension resources, media-literacy organizations, and documented practical examples. We look for direct, relevant evidence, especially when a claim could affect a family’s decisions.

We check important names, dates, quantities, links, and source details. For information that can change, such as policies or product features, we use current first-party material where appropriate. We explain study findings in proportion to a study’s design and population rather than treating a narrow finding as a rule for every child.

Evidence, experience, and editorial judgment

We place attribution close to the claim so readers can tell what a study, organization, company, or other source says. We keep that account separate from our editorial interpretation. When we offer an opinion or recommendation, we explain the reasons behind it, the likely practical consequences, and the circumstances that may lead to a different answer.

Everyday routines and skills are adaptable options, not universal formulas. We encourage families to adjust ideas for age, ability, and their own circumstances. Individual medical, developmental, or clinical questions belong with an appropriate qualified professional. We describe firsthand experiences, interviews, professional credentials, purchases, and independent testing only when documented information supports those descriptions.

Images and documentary material

Our illustrations are editorial artwork. They help explain family situations and practical activities, but they are not records of actual events. When an article presents an actual photograph, document, location, or other evidentiary material, we use sourced material and describe it accurately.

Commercial relationships

Teaching My Family is part of the publisher’s editorial network. We select recommendations and links because they help with the reader’s task. When ownership, sponsorship, affiliate arrangements, or another commercial relationship could affect a recommendation, we explain that relationship clearly where it applies.

Corrections

We welcome corrections that make an article more accurate or useful. Email contact@teachingmyfamily.com with the article link, the detail that needs attention, and supporting material we can review. We assess the information against the relevant evidence and update the article when a correction is warranted.
